Worldwide Medical Evacuation
Global Assistance Medical Centre supported by Global Assistance & Healthcare provides emergency medical evacuation to the nearest competent care facility in the event that you become seriously ill or injured while traveling, including coverage for repatriation of mortal remains, return of minor child(ren), and other benefits. The benefits of the medical evacuation are seen below.
A. Medical Assistance
1. Emergency Evacuation
In the event of a Medical Emergency and adequate Medical Facility is not available to provide the required care to a Member, a Medically Supervised Evacuation will be provided to the nearest capable Medical Facility.
2. Medically Supervised Repatriation
If our Medical Officer determine that it is medically advisable to bring the Member to a Medical Facility nearer to their permanent residence following stabilisation, arrangements will be made for Repatriation under Medical Supervision.
3. Medical Monitoring
Our Medical Officer will monitor a Members’ condition when hospitalized locally or overseas and will provide on-going updates to the Members’ family &/ employer.
4. Convalescence Expenses
Once a Member is discharged from in-patient medical care following an evacuation/repatriation, Global Assistance & Healthcare will pay against invoices presented for expenses incurred to provide medically recommended convalescence for the member in a facility outside the Member/Member’s family home. Service is valid 30 days from the date of Member’s evacuation/repatriation.
5. Dispatch of Doctor or Specialist
In the event our Medical Officer is unable to assess a Member’s condition for evacuation, a Doctor/Specialist will be dispatched to the Members’ location.
6. Emergency Medication
Where possible and legally permissible, with authorization from prescribing medical officer, we will assist the Member in obtaining prescription medication not available locally.
7. Hospital Deposit Guarantee
Guarantee or transfer any required emergency hospital admittance deposit on behalf of a Member.
8. 24 Hour Worldwide Medical Advice
Members can contact the Alarm Centre in Jakarta for assistance.
9. Pre-Trip Medical Referral Information
Information to local English speaking doctors &/ addresses and telephone numbers for hospitals on the country to be visited.
10. Repatriation of Mortal Remains
In the event of a Members’ demise while travelling, we will render every of assistance possible to obtain necessary clearances and arrange for the return of the Mortal remains.
B. Personal Assistance
1. Emergency Personal Cash
Provide Members cash advance in local currency equivalent for medical emergencies.
2. Legal Access
Members may call the Alarm Centre for contacts of local qualified attorneys available. Assistance is also provided in obtaining Bail Bonds where such bonds are customarily issued. Members are responsible for contracted legal fees.
3. Translation & Interpreters
Provide assistance for translation services and referrals to interpreter services. A fee is chargeable if personal presence or customised services are required.
4. Claims Assistance
Assist Members in co-ordinating overseas claims procedures with their insurance programmes, and as directed by their employer.
5. Embassy/Consular Information
Provision of contact information for Embassies and Consulates world wide to Members.
6. Lost Document Assistance
Assistance in obtaining replacements of important travel documents (e.g. passport, credit cards etc.) should a Member lose them while travelling.
7. Emergency Message Transmission
Assistance to receive and transmit emergency messages between the family &/ employers of a Member.
C. Travel Assistance
1. Transportation to Join Disabled Member
If a Member is traveling alone and is hospitalized for more than seven days, round trip economy airfare to the place of hospitalization will be arranged for a person chosen by the Member. In addition up to 7 days toward accommodation will be included.
2. Return of Minor Children
Dependent children left unattended as a result of a Members’ accident/illness, a one way economy airfare will be arranged to their place of residence. Qualified attendants will be provided when required.
3. Return of Travelling Companion
When Member is evacuated/ hospitalized and traveling companions’ air ticket is no longer valid, a one way economy airfare will be arranged to the original departure point.
4. Emergency Family Travel Arrangements
Assist in co-ordinating travel arrangements for family members to join hospitalised Member. Cost of travel services is the responsibility of the Member/employer/family.
